In the wild, you’ll find this plant growing primarily in Mexico and Guatemala, but it’s been beloved as an indoor plant around the world since Victorian times. A Parlour palm brings simple elegance to any room and it’s really easy to care for. It will tolerate low light and infrequent watering, but as with any plant, you’ll get better results if you treat them well. It will also appreciate a feed with liquid fertiliser once per month in spring and summer.
Did you know?
Parlour palms are one of the slowest growing house plants and can take decades to reach full height.
- Frequent watering In spring and summer, they get thirsty so check weekly and water whenever the top inch of soil feels dry.
- Medium light - This plant loves moderate to bright light, but direct sun is a bit much. In a very sunny room, place away from the window.
- Humidity - Moisture in the air will help keep leaves green and fresh. This is easily done by misting about once a week.
- It's naturally a slow grower but if you want to give a boost in spring and summer, feed about once a month.
