Humidity -likes a lot of moisture in the air. The bathroom is a great home, or mist leaves every few days.
Bright light - big leaves like a lot of light. Not too much direct sun, as it can burn leaves, but somewhere nice and bright.
Regular watering - likes moist, but not soggy, soil. Check weekly and water if the top inch of soil feels dry. Cut back in winter.
This plant loves aerated soil. Easy to do. Just gently poke a few holes in the soil with a pencil, to let air circulate

Dwarf elephant ear, or alocasia gagaena, might sound strange for a plant so large, but you should see how big this one gets in the wild. In its natural habitat in South-East Asia, it can grow several metres tall. It’s obviously much smaller than that in a domestic setting, but it still commands a lot of space. You should give it a spot at least a metre wide to let its big leaves spread.
